Many Normandy vide-greniers begin very early, often from 6am or 7am for dedicated bargain hunters. The best finds usually disappear before lunchtime… along with most available parking 🚗
Expect everything from vintage Normandy furniture and French kitchenware to vinyl records, books, tools, linen, toys, military memorabilia and wonderfully puzzling treasures whose original purpose has long been forgotten.
Some events are intimate village gatherings with a handful of stalls and homemade cakes. Others fill entire town centres with hundreds of exhibitors, food stalls and live entertainment throughout the day.
August's warm weather makes it a wonderful month for browsing outdoor markets and village fêtes, but a light waterproof, sun protection and a little cash are still wise companions for a day exploring Normandy. ☀️🌦️
