A Countryside Stay Where Nobody Is Listening

Some people choose a holiday for the sights. Others choose it for the food. And then there are those who choose based on something far less visible: privacy, discretion, and the freedom to exist without apology or explanation.
This is for the last group.
For many guests, this isn’t romance or adventure — it’s adult escapism in the simplest sense: privacy, autonomy, and being left alone together.
Privacy by Design (Not by Accident)
This gîte was renovated with privacy in mind — intentionally, not as an afterthought. For you, and for us.
It isn’t attached to another room. It doesn’t share walls with strangers. And thanks to thick Norman stone walls, not a lot of noise carries anyway — no corridor traffic, no late-night footsteps, no muffled television noise from next door.
Most windows look out onto land and sky, not other people. The only exception is the gîte kitchen window, which faces the front garden of the main house — easily solved by closing the blind. Every other window looks out onto open countryside, so once that blind is down, visual privacy is complete.
People searching for a private adult getaway in Normandy often aren’t looking for luxury spas or hotel corridors. They’re looking for space, silence, and accommodation where nobody is listening through the walls. A discreet countryside gîte, intentionally designed like that, with real privacy and no shared spaces — that’s the appeal.
The private enclosed garden sits alongside a quiet country lane and faces open farmland. Passing traffic is mostly the odd tractor, and even then the driver is far more interested in delivering animal feed than in you.
You also have private access to a field next to the llama paddock, overlooked by nobody at all. It includes picnic benches, a splash pool, and more outdoor comforts to be added as our business grows. Your only judges are the llamas — and they judge everyone equally.
It’s a setup intentionally designed like that. For quiet. For discretion. For people who value being able to relax without worrying about who might see or hear them.
Arrival, Your Way
There is no check-in time. You arrive any time after 4pm on day one of your holiday. That’s it. Simple.
We offer contact-free access via key code, so you can arrive quietly and settle in without having to coordinate timings or make polite small talk.
If you’d rather be welcomed, helped with bags, and shown around, we can do that too — you simply let us know in the pre-arrival form. No awkward phone calls. No hovering. Your holiday, your choice.
If you want to arrive anonymously and disappear quietly and be left alone, that’s equally fine.
Inside: Comfortable, Practical, Human
Inside, the gîte is calm, spacious and practical. There are proper beds, pre-made up following the instructions you give us in your pre-arrival form.
The sofa is for real humans. Stretch out, curl up, or sprawl diagonally across it (which I highly recommend — it’s super comfy).
The kitchen is a proper kitchen, with all the mod cons and stocked with all the equipment we think you’ll need — and more. No hunting around at midnight for a corkscrew.
The walk-in ground-floor shower is large, accessible, big enough for a wheelchair, and even big enough to share if that’s your thing (🔥🔥). It also includes a shower chair and support bars if needed — whatever your requirements 😉
Upstairs, the first-floor bathroom includes a full-sized bath, with an accessible bar to help you get in and out. If you fancy sharing a long bubble-bath soak together, it’s entirely possible — it might be a squeeze, but that’s half the fun.
This isn’t hotel living — it’s a private gîte designed for everyone.
Being Left Alone Is a Feature, Not a Bug
People here are busy. Fields need ploughing. Animals need feeding. Markets need running. Llamas need carrots (they always need carrots).
This corner of La Manche is particularly good at minding its own business. It’s not rudeness. There’s just a field that needs ploughing.
You’re just another person staying somewhere quiet and enjoying the beautiful Normandy countryside in whatever mode takes your preference.
Who This Works For
We accommodate groups of all kinds.
We regularly receive families. We accommodate groups. We welcome adults in non-monogamous relationships. We accept multi-generational families, and just as often we host guests in polyamorous relationships. They may have differences, but the one thing that unites them is they are all looking for space, comfort, and privacy whilst on holiday.
Some guests use particular terminology. Many don’t. What they tend to have in common is a preference for discretion, calm surroundings, and a place that doesn’t make assumptions or care — you just be you, and we’ll be us.
That calm indifference is a very Norman ability to let people get on with their lives without fuss or commentary. It’s not rudeness — there’s just a field that needs ploughing.
What Guests Actually Do
Some guests spend days at Montmartin-sur-Mer beach, wander Coutances Thursday morning market, or head out to the D-Day beaches, Mont-Saint-Michel, or Christian Dior’s house and museum in Granville.
Some cook. Some eat out. Some go for our optional add-ons to have breakfasts or home-cooked meals delivered to the gîte. Some do all of the above.
There are no predefined rules or schedules. It’s your holiday. Nobody else’s.
Clarity (Without Awkwardness)
Just to be clear: this is a self-catering countryside gîte. Not a venue. Not a service. And not a place for parties or organised activity.
We welcome anyone and everyone, and we have no interest in what you get up to as long as you don’t touch the llamas unsupervised and you remember to sort and put your rubbish out on Wednesday night.
Why People Choose This Place
For couples seeking a discreet, adult-friendly stay in Normandy, this is exactly what it sounds like.
Close the gate. Shut the door. Take a breath. Relish being somewhere that doesn’t require anything from you. Enjoy the holiday — your way.
